Playin the Part

It’s pretty evident in today’s society that the DJ has pulled top rank as the iconic music symbol of our generation.  From TV commercials to contest to being featured at retail and brand events weekly, DJs have become the kings of entertainment.  With this new and prestigious title also comes certain standards that we as DJs need to maintain now.  In our field of work here at DJPeoples, the retail sector is all about appearance, fashion and style.  Our clients have chosen us because our DJ poses the highest skills on the decks and know how to entertain the masses.  However, they have also chosen us because our talent best represents their brands look and feel.  This means when we show up to an event that each DJ needs to assimilate that brands style and identity to some degree.  This may mean jazzing up your attire to fit and Indie Style shop like G by Guess or putting on that suite & tie (little black dress for our ladies) and playing the part of an upscale brand like Coach or Dior.   Before event day, evaluate the retail brand you will be entertaining.  This may mean taking a look at their website and some of their models dress and style.  Then best match that brands style to your own, making sure that the two match and the brand is represented in stellar fashion.  You’re on stage, you’re the show.

As much as we need to look the part our clients are expecting us to play the part too.  This doesn’t mean that you need to be Tiesto, throwing up hand hearts but it does mean that you are the exciting focus in the store.  We champion the fact that all of our DJs have their own unique showmanship and style when they are playing our events.  You are the vibe selector, take your stores to the place they want to go.  The mangers will love you and the client will ask for you again by name.
